2011 is the summer of the ontario peach. they are perfectly firm and sweet and juicy. i ate 6 tonight for my dinner at 9.30 pm. and i may have a few more. last summer was such a disappointment that i almost didn't even try them this year. but when i bought my first basket at the farmer's market a few weeks ago, i ate the whole basket in an afternoon. there are few foods i love like a perfect peach!
i know its weird but i don`t like peaches! is not the taste. i adore peach juice. its the texture. i just can`t eat it... but this picture is som welcoming i might give it a try ; )
I love peaches, when they are pealed, but for me summer is all about the ever elusive Ontario Grown sweet cherry. Unfortunately they are now out of season so I have moved on to grapes.
the quilts i make blend a grandmother's ideals with a fresh youthful flair. there is a nostalgia for seasons past combined with hopefulness for a bright full future. I write little stories in my mind as I make the quilts. sometimes they become actual stories. and sometimes I share them here.
My son loves Apple Pie and my Hubby Apricot - for me its Peaches ALL THE WAY! At least between us we have the season covered!

ReplyDeleteI have had that same wonderful experience with peaches this summer. I have also been craving them baked in a pie.
ReplyDeleteI am on plums now, I cannot behave myself when given the opportunity to eat, eat eat. I love peaches too, but we do not often get good ones in Norway
